Digital Marketing Manager Resume Keywords and Skills
By the StructuredCV team · Updated
Digital marketing manager postings screen for channel ownership and measurable growth. Expect keywords for the channels the company depends on (SEO, paid search, paid social, email, content), the platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, HubSpot or Marketo) and the economics (CAC, ROAS, conversion rate, pipeline). Hiring managers want the budgets you controlled, the targets you were measured against and what changed while you ran the program. Build each bullet around a channel, an action and a result, and say whether the business was B2B or B2C, because lead generation and ecommerce use different success measures. Keep attribution claims consistent with what your reporting showed.

Common digital marketing manager resume mistakes
- Taking credit for total company revenue growth when marketing was one input; tie claims to the channel metrics and attribution model you reported on.
- Reporting vanity metrics only (impressions, followers, likes) with nothing about leads, sales or cost efficiency.
- Leaving out budget size, one of the first details hiring managers use to gauge the level of a marketing role.
- Listing every platform you have logged into; reviewers care about the channels you owned with a budget and a target.
- Mixing B2B and B2C vocabulary without context, such as citing MQLs for an ecommerce role that measures orders and average order value.
What to emphasize at your level
- Entry level
- Show hands-on channel work: campaigns you built, content you published, tests you ran and their results, plus platform certifications you have earned.
- Mid level
- Emphasize ownership of one or more channels with a budget and targets, the tests and optimizations you led, and results against goal.
- Senior
- Lead with full-funnel strategy, total budget and team size, how you split spend across channels, and marketing's measured contribution to pipeline or revenue.
Certifications worth listing
List a certification only if you hold it (or say “in progress” with an expected date).
- Google Ads Search Certification
- Google Analytics Certification
- HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certification

Digital Marketing Manager resume FAQ
What metrics belong on a digital marketing manager resume?
Use the measures the business actually judged you on. For paid media that usually means ROAS, CAC or cost per lead, with the budget size. For SEO, organic sessions and rankings for target terms. For email and lifecycle, conversion and revenue per send. For B2B, MQLs, SQLs and marketing-sourced pipeline. Two or three solid numbers per role beat a dozen vanity metrics.
Should I list Google Ads and Analytics certifications?
Yes, if they are current. They are free through Google Skillshop, so they rarely decide a manager-level hire, but they help with keyword searches and show platform familiarity early in a career. Put them in a certifications section and let your bullets carry the real proof: campaigns you ran on those platforms and what they returned.
How do I show marketing results when attribution was messy?
Name the measure you trusted and use it consistently. Write 'marketing-sourced pipeline in Salesforce' or 'last-click revenue in GA4' instead of an unexplained revenue figure. Where attribution was unclear, report the leading indicators you controlled, such as cost per lead or conversion rate. Interviewers will ask how a number was measured, so choose ones you can explain.
Is a generalist or specialist resume better for digital marketing roles?
Match the posting. Smaller companies often want a generalist who can run several channels, so show breadth with one result per channel. Larger teams hire for depth in paid acquisition, SEO or lifecycle, so lead with your strongest channel and its numbers. Either way, keep the skills list to channels where you have had a budget or a target.
